For the purposes of this debate, a long-term trend of fast economic growth is when an economy's output or gross domestic product increases rapidly over a number of years, while a long-term trend of slow economic growth is when an economy's output or gross domestic product increases slowly over a number of years. 

Pentecostalism is a highly decentralized Christian movement preached primarily by small, local churches. Pentecostalism emphasizes evangelism (ie, converting others to the religion), disciplined behavior (eg, it prohibits alcohol consumption and glorifies hard work), and direct, emotional connections with the Holy Spirit (eg, worship often involves dancing, crying, and passionate preaching).

After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, Iran incorporated the Islamic principle of qisas (meaning "an eye for an eye") into its Islamic Penal Code. This principle allows victims of violent crimes to inflict the same crimes on their perpetrators. 

Beginning in 2014, Iran saw an uptick of acid attacks against women, with assailants throwing acid on women's faces either due to personal feuds or to victims' perceived nonconformity with Islamic values. When sentencing such assailaints, the Iranian judiciary has extended qisas to the victims of acid attacks, giving them the choice of putting acid in the eyes of their attackers in controlled medical settings.

Luigi Mangione, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, is currently suspected of shooting and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4, 2024. When arrested, authorities found Mangione with a weapon consistent with that used to kill Thompson and a manifesto decrying the healthcare industry. However, many people on social media have noted that the eyebrows of the killer, pictured checking in to a hostel before the shooting, are different than Luigi's. Since Luigi's arrest, thousands of people on social media have expressed their support for Mangione and have called for his acquittal.

Evelyn and Waymond are Chinese immigrants who moved to the United States two decades ago and married one another. The two now run a laundromat together. Recently, Evelyn has grown distant from Waymond and has refused to discuss Waymond’s concerns about their marriage. Instead, Evelyn is preoccupied with fighting with her teenage daughter and resents Waymond for his kindness and contentedness with life. 

One day, time in Evelyn’s current universe freezes. Evelyn learns that she lives in a multiverse, where a new universe is created for every life choice one makes. She also discovers that in an alternate universe, she developed “verse-jumping” technology, which allows her to travel across different universes. She must now use that technology to save the multiverse. 

Evelyn fails in her efforts to save the multiverse and soon realizes she can only save one universe—where she will also live. The multiverses are slowly disappearing. Evelyn sees an alternate universe where she didn’t marry Waymond and instead became a wealthy film star. Intrigued, she enters that universe to speak to Waymond, who is also financially prosperous but filled with regret. Waymond tells Evelyn that, in another life, he would have liked to just do laundry and taxes with her. In that universe, they cannot be together, and Evelyn knows she will never find love there. After Evelyn’s decision, she will not have memories of any alternate timelines, though she will remember her conversation with Waymond and the love she felt for him in it.
